Greetings All!
First of all, thank you for checking out my new website and signing up for my email Newsletter. This is the very first one! I don't have a particular schedule at this point but hope to keep up on a regular basis to inform you of new work, galleries, upcoming shows, travel and any other info I think you may be interested in. As I am new to this and am still learning how everything works, please feel free to comment and offer suggestions.
The paintings above are all oil on panel and were done this winter in the studio. Alas, I am still waiting for some decent weather to get outside and paint. One of the hardest things when changing seasons is switching from painting from photos to painting outside from life - and the reverse is just as true in the Fall. Seeing and responding is different in both venues and remembering how things work takes a few practice runs! I painted out for the first time on April 1st and it was frustrating to say the least. But, the next time will be easier!
I'll be going to the Plein Air Convention in Tucson, AZ for the
first time this year. We will have a chance to paint the desert
and experience some warm (hot) weather - a definite change
from Maine! I will report back on the event once I get home but
it sounds like an opportunity not to miss. I'm really looking
forward to hanging out with about 700 other artists. Should be a fabulous time!
Before I sign off, I'd like to let you know I have been invited to join a new gallery which I'm very excited about: Casco Bay Artisans, The Maine Wharf, 68 Commercial Street, Portland, ME. This is a brand new gallery on the Portland waterfront and it is a beautiful open space with lots of natural light. There is a wide range of fine art by artists from Maine, around the US and abroad. There is also fine jewelry, art glass, sculpture and some specialty furniture pieces. Check them out on FaceBook (they are working on a website as we speak) and stop in if you're in town.
Until next time,
Cheers,
Suzanne
